Maggie + Andy: Engaged

Everyone who knows me well, knows that I love farm weddings. I’ve never been to one, nor have I had the pleasure of shooting one, I just like them because. It’s on my list of “things I would like to do if I am ever so lucky”. So, when Maggie’s inquiry came through, letting me know the wedding was on a family farm, I was ecstatic. These two lovebirds are both science teachers, who love to escape to Andy’s family farm on the weekends and during their summer’s off together. I spent a lovely afternoon with them last month on the farm. They showed me their favourite spots and I took photos. I have decided to live vicariously through them.

Joan: Portraits

Joan’s my close friend. She likes to put outfits together and I like to take photos.

Coincidentally the day of this portrait session, we planned to watch the movie Black Swan later in the evening. I think Joan subconsciously channeled her inner black swan for this photo session. After seeing how lovely and effortless these portraits turned out, I’m thinking of doing some portraits of myself. Anyone else out there want to do a secret portrait session just ’cause? Let me know!

Sarah+Ryan: married

When I met Sarah and Ryan we instantly hit it off. We sipped on coffee, talked about a reality show or two, (don’t judge) and all things wedding. They finished each others sentences, looked at each other all googley eyed and probably were playing footsies under the table.  Do couples like this still exist? Yup, they do!  Thank goodness, ’cause it makes my job way easier (wink wink).

You guys are so in love, it makes me sick. (i say that with love of course).

P.S It didn’t rain. It’s official. I am your lucky charm.

Adeliana + Ignacio: married

It is very important to me as a photographer to meet up with both the bride and groom before anything is signed and sealed. I want to make sure we are compatible and I like to see the interaction between the two and hear all the stories they have shared and want to share together. This really helps me make meaningful photos.

When I met Ade, Ignacio couldn’t come. He lives in Florida. Ade lives in Toronto. They have a long distance relationship. The way Ade spoke about Ignacio, I didn’t have to meet him. I instantly knew him by the way she expressed her love for him. Her eyes smiled when she began to speak about him.  I knew she loved him and he loved her. That’s all that mattered.

Ade wrote me after I had sent the photos to her and Ignacio in Florida (they live in Florida together now).  Messages like this make me love what I do even more and keep me motivated to make more love stories:

Both Ignacio and I wanted to officially tell you that we LOVED our wedding photos.  I personally find it magical, the way you produced those fantastic shots in such a fast pace environment with natural light, orchestrating strangers in such a rush…crazy. It’s a gift.

…You have huge talent Vicky, and i am very happy we were able to have you as our wedding photographer. Thank you so much, the memories will stay for ever, thanks to that wonderful eye of yours (and your assistant, she was awesome and her shots turned out great, please thank her on our behalf). You rock Vicky!!!!!

Ade and Ignacio, you guys rock!
